Escape the Ordinary was born in 2019 with a vision of bringing alternative and goth to my local high street of Retford. At the time my boutique opened there was no-one stocking alternative and goth clothing and accessories. My boutique started off its life in a little shop off the main high street, to a more prominent location in 2022, to a website and online store. I’ve always had a huge passion for all things dark, creepy, and unusual. Goth and alternative subcultures I’ve loved and been inspired by for as long as I can remember.

I always wanted my boutique to be a little bit different from stores already out there. I wanted to stock a wide range of sizes. I know what its like when you see something you love and its only available in small sizes. Where I can I will stock up to sizes 2XL (size 22). Gothic and witchy homeware items was another element. There is not a lot of shops that stock the homeware lifestyle side as well as the clothes/accessories, they either do one or the other. I also wanted to keep the door open for me to bring in my own designs in the future.

A little about me: 

My business is solely run by myself. I do everything from purchasing stock, costings, managing social media and so much more. I am incredibly proud to be a female business owner. I started planning and running my business from the age of 24!!! I am a fashion graduate from Sheffield Hallam. I have always had an interest in macabre stuff and alternative/goth fashion was always an interest to me. I would love to bring my own designs into my boutique in the future.
